Barnsley on Film: Free Saturday Screenings at Experience Barnsley Museum

Taking place in the Learning Lab at Experience Barnsley Museum, free film shows every Saturday during the summer holidays.

 

The short films play on a loop so there's no need to book in advance:

 

20 July – Barnsley in the 1960s: A compilation film from Barnsley Archives featuring parades, Barnsley Marketfootage and a snapshot of Barnsley industries in this era.


27 July – Heart of The Wood – Exploring the Past, Present and Future of Mining Communities: A teenage
girl and her younger brother go on an epic and magical underground quest to fight for the life of their grandfather.
Recorded at Dearne Playhouse in Dec 2023.


3 Aug – Audio Described Films: A chance to watch a selection of Barnsley Museums films that have been audio described.


10 Aug – The best of Eldon Street High Street Heritage Action Zone: We look back on the four-year project with a selection of films made as part of the Eldon HSHAZ.


17 Aug – The Best of Barnsley on Film: A 40-minute compilation from our archive spanning films created
in the last 100+ years.


24 Aug – Up The Swanee! Poetry, history, songs, art and photography, reflecting the stories of the people who
remember the Swanee a mysterious pond in Kendray.
