Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust Seeks New Trustees
Join the charitable arm of Barnsley Museums and help shape its future.
Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust is the charity that supports Barnsley Museums, an innovative and successful museums service that runs five free heritage sites across the borough. The Trust has launched a campaign to recruit new trustees who can offer their expertise, opinions and aspirations for the museums in the role.
The Trust's goal is to improve the visitor experience, increase the visibility of the museums, and secure more funding for projects and activities. The trustees have a special opportunity to shape the strategic direction and development of the Trust and the museum’s work. They bring a passion for culture, heritage and learning that benefits communities, visitors and those who engage with the museums in various ways.
The Trust invites applications from people of all backgrounds and ages who are interested in the museums and their vision.
The role of a trustee is voluntary and unpaid, but reasonable expenses will be covered. The time commitment is about four meetings per year, plus occasional events and activities. The term of office is three years, with the option of renewal.
