Discover Dearne

Discover Dearne was the legacy project of the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership (DVLP) which was a five year National Lottery Heritage Fund project.

It’s aims were to protect, preserve & enhance the heritage & environment of the Dearne Valley area of South Yorkshire. The Discover Dearne team delivered some great projects across Barnsley, including the Worsbrough Wet Woodland project. 

Worsbrough Wet Woodland

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Worsbrough Wet Woodland project aims were to protect and enhance the natural heritage of Worsbrough Country Park. The park has some incredible habitats which are home to a number of priority species, including the willow tit and harvest mouse and the project worked to ensure their presence will remain on site. The Worsbrough Wet Woodland project also aimed to improve access to the park, through a mixture of practical improvement works as well as updated signage and interpretation.
