Mapping Barnsley

In 2023 CDF commissioned University of Sheffield (UoS) to map the creative and cultural industries sector based within Barnsley, and produce a report plus a comprehensive database of creative artists living and/or working in Barnsley.

This work will be used to help partners within Barnsley Council to develop a programme of cultural engagement, highlight any existing cultural clusters within the Borough, and help to develop the most suitable infrastructure/venues to develop the cultural sector as part of the Borough’s regeneration plans.

Through a series of creative networking events, desktop research and surveys, this project has resulted in a database of creative contacts who have given their consent to be contacted by Barnsley Council's Culture team with relevant opportunities to participate in cultural events, training, and opportunities to apply for funding.

If you missed out on filling out the Mapping Arts, Culture & the Creative Industries in Barnsley - Creatives Questionnaire (survey now closed) and would be interested in signing up to the Barnsley Council Culture newsletter please contact storyingbarnsley@barnsley.gov.uk with your email and a completed Barnsley Data Usage Form (Word)
