The Storying Chair
Storying Chair with Dan Jones
Artist Dan Jones held 6 sculpture and storytelling sessions in June and July at the
Astrea Academy Dearne. Over the course of these sessions, he worked with the 50
young people who make up the Athena group, creating ‘The Storying Chair’. This
chair became a tool for storytelling, it was used as a device to facilitate the
participants to tell stories which were then spoken and recorded.
About Dan
Dan Jones is a Sculptor based in the Dearne Valley, South Yorkshire. He has worked extensively throughout the UK on public art and regeneration projects and has also created large sculptures for public spaces around the world, in countries including Japan, South Korea, Dubai and Cyprus. Dan has recently been working close to home in Goldthorpe as an Artist Consultant, involving the community in the town’s redevelopment.
